HomEntry GArage Door Openers

Frequently asked Questions

General Questions

How can I use the door manually eg. When there is a blackout?

To operate any motorized garage door, a sharp tug on the emergency cord will disengage your motor, allowing the door to be opened by hand.
The door should rise and fall with little effort.

How do I re-engage the motor eg. When the power has been restored?

a) Sectional/Tilt Doors

A sharp tug when the cord is in a 45 degree angle from the ground, towards the motor, will enable the arm attached to the cord (currently pointing towards the ground)
to spring up and point towards the motor.

b) Roller Doors

The clutch arm that is attached to the cord at the motor, needs to be pushed up to sit on a ledge at approx. the 10 o’clock position (currently at the 9 o’clock position).

My garage door motor is not working, what can I do?

Check that the motor is plugged into the socket and that the power is turned on. If it is, please supplement with another electrical appliance to ensure that the socket is live.
Push the “Manual Control” button on your motor. By pushing that button once, it will activate your door. If it is operational, there could be an issue with your remotes.

a) Sectional/Tilt Doors

Underneath the light cover will be a coloured plastic rectangular strip. To operate the motor, push the centre of that strip.
If the strip has been removed and you can see coloured dials and coloured buttons, push the green “Operate” button.

b) Roller Doors

Beside the MotorLift name on the face of the motor, will be a coloured plastic rectangular strip. To operate the motor, push the centre of that strip.
If the strip has been removed and you can see coloured dials and coloured buttons, push the green “Operate” button.

Check that the remote control LED light on the handset is flickering when a remote control button is being pushed.
If not, please change the battery. If unable to ascertain what is causing the problem, disengage your door by following the instructions above.
This will enable you to get access to your garage until the problem can be resolved.

Where can I purchase another remote?
MotorLift remotes can be purchased from authorised Autobarn outlets and Bunnings stores.

Why do all of my remotes work sometimes, but not everytime?
1. There could be some interference, preventing the signal reaching the motor from your remote.
This can be caused by remote electrical items eg. Routers and other remote items using the same frequency eg. Baby monitors.
These interferences need to be located and isolated.

2. The aerial (soft wire) might not be hanging from your motor and pointing towards the ground.
Ensure that the soft aerial wire is released from your motor (either at the rear for sectional/tilt doors
or underneath the light cover for roller doors) and is hanging straight down.
